MENICO RIZZI

The group works on the biochemistry and structural biology of enzymes involved in NAD biology in different organisms in an Evolutionary perspective. We aim to the in depth understanding of the function of selected protein at the molecular level as a prerequisite for the design of potent and specific inhibitors of potential medical interest. The main topics are:
1. Enzymes involved in NAD biosynthesis in human, Plasmodium falciparum and  Mycobacterium tuberculosis
2. NAD dependent dehydrogenases of medical interest
3. Enzymes of the kynurenine pathway in the human brain and in the mosquito Anopheles gambiae
